Structure of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis

The Schola Cantorum Basiliensis is an Institute of the Musik-Akadmie der Stadt Basel. The other Institutes are the Allgemeine Musikschule, the Hochschule für Musik, and the Musikalischen Grundkurse.
The Academy s directed by a board consisting of the Rector of the Academy, the Rectors of the individual institutes, and the Administrative Director. The Academy Council (President: Dr. Alex Krauer) has an advisory function.

The Schola Cantorum Basiliensis itself has two departments: the ‘Hochschule für Alte Musik’ (professional education) and the ‘Allgemeine Schule’ (for amateurs). In addition there is a Research Department which is integrated into the ‘Hochschule’, as well as an Office for Event Organization, which plans the concert series ‘Freunde Alter Musik in Basel’ in addition to other concerts and activities of the SCB which are open to the public.
